The Pros and Cons of Owning a Pet

There is both ups and downs of owning a pet. That is why we have created the ultimate list of pros and cons of owning a pet. In order to create the ultimate list we have combined many other pros and cons lists. The pros and cons lists we used will be listed under sources. If you are pet owner you may be able to relate, and if you are considering to purchase a pet then it may help to read this.

Fewer Allergies – It is proven that people who grew up with dog were more likely to not end up with dog allergies in the future. Allergies – Any type of pet can lead to a possible allergic.
Exercise- Pets, dogs specifically, will make you be a bit more active when you take them out for walks or to the dog park.  Salmonellosis – Salmonellosis also known as Salmonella is usually carried by reptiles/amphibians. According to the FDA, “Turtles commonly carry Salmonella bacteria on their outer skin and shell surfaces. People can get infected with Salmonella by coming in contact with: Turtles or other reptiles (lizards, snakes); Amphibians (frogs, salamanders, newts), and so on.”
Health- Pets, dogs and cats specifically can lower your stress levels. And dogs (trained) can sometimes detect cancer, and also seizures. Expenses of owning a pet – Pets can cost a lot of money and it is not just the food expenses, you also have to pay for vet bills.
Companionship – Your pet will keep you company.  Responsibility – Pets are a huge responsibility, and cleaning up after them isn’t the only thing you have to do. You have to supply with fresh water and food. And if you have a dog then you have to train it and take it for walks.
 Rabies – If you get bitten by a pet you may get rabies.
